The Poinciana High School Culinary program is back in the kitchen for this school year serving up gourmet meals after their exclusive preview to teachers and select faculty.

There have been many changes to the menu such as the addition of rice pilafs, mac and cheese, and chicken quarters.

The flatbread options consist of chicken Alfredo and roasted seasonal vegetables with garlic sauce and mozzarella, which are both priced at five dollars.

The Eagles Kitchen will no longer offer smoked turkey and bacon or the shrimp Po Boy.

Instead, they are selling a chicken BLT melt on a Kaiser roll with potato wedges and the massive Triple P, which has pulled pork, plantain, and provolone on a soft roll served with a side of potato wedges. Both cost five dollars.

As a new feature for this school year’s menu, Eagles Kitchen is offering full entrees. For example, one-fourth of a smoked chicken with the option of the sides of garlic mash, cilantro rice, and mac and cheese as well as Pork carnitas fresh tortillas, salsa, and cilantro steamed rice with pico de gallo which both can be ordered for $5.50.

There are sides for sale separately for those who want a smaller serving.

These sides are garlic mash and cilantro rice that is priced at $1 and mac and cheese for $2.

Mystery soups are no more in the kitchen, from now on there is an alternate between a French onion style soup with provolone cheese toast on Tuesday and tomato basil and pressed mini grilled cheese on Thursdays, which are both priced for $2.50

For a healthier option, PHS faculty can choose between two salads, a chef’s salad ($4.50) and garden greens ($3).

While Smoothies have been discontinued, coffee frappes are $3 and bottled water is .75.

Some faculty members have expressed much enthusiasm about the program.

Math instructor Troy Herrera said, “The food is very good. This is my second year purchasing and my new favorite is the Triple P.”

Culinary students have expressed their effort in making the Eagles Kitchen work efficiently.

“We have worked very hard in the books and in the kitchen.”  Lisdaily Aragon said, who is a Culinary Arts student in their fourth year.

The Eagles Kitchen will be open Tuesdays and Thursday.  Orders must be placed a day in advance on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Please leave the prices at 5 or 4 dollars… No need for the 50 cents extra in the price. Like what if, hypothetically i only have 5 dollars and want to buy the BLT?
